The longer the henna paste stays on your skin, the deeper the stain will develop. Ideally, leave it on overnight for the best results. Wrap gently with tissue and medical tape.
After removing the paste, avoid washing the area with water for at least 24 hours. Water halts the oxidation process. When the stain is initially light orange, it will darken to deep brown over 48 hours.
After scraping off the dried paste, apply a mixture of lemon juice and sugar, or coconut oil. This helps seal the design and intensify the colour. Avoid chlorine, harsh soaps, and exfoliants.
When removing the dried henna paste, gently scrape it off with a butter knife or your fingernail. Never wash it off with water as this prevents the stain from reaching its full potential depth.
Warmth helps henna develop a darker colour. Keep your hands warm while the paste is drying. You can hold them near (not over) a warm surface or use a hairdryer on a low, warm setting briefly.
Once the colour has fully developed after 48 hours, keep the area moisturized with natural oils like coconut or olive oil. This helps the design last longer by slowing the natural skin exfoliation process.
